Tana Mattson founded Altstadt Interiors as a means of delivering high quality interior design and consignment furniture.
For over sixteen years, Altstadt Interiors has ensured that every design project, large or small, is executed with quality, integrity and personality. Our customer-focused approach to design accommodates a diverse range of styles and budgets, deriving inspiration from both the needs and vision of the client as well as the parameters and opportunities of the space.
About Altstadt Interiors
When Tana Mattson founded her design business 1996, she sought a name that reflected her comprehensive design capabilities, interest in Historic Preservation, and heritage. German for Old Town, "Altstadt" perfectly embodied her initial vision-and remains relevant.
Not unlike an Old Town or historic city center, Altstadt Interiors harbors a distinctive blend of history, culture, and experience. One part Interior Design business, one part Consignment Shop, Altstadt Interiors offers a complete range of design services as well as a balanced perspective on all facets of the industry.
Tana's firsthand experience with retail and design separate her from other designers and streamline her design process, affording her the ability to fully devote her attention to the needs and vision of the client. This customer-focused approach to design overrides her interest in a particular aesthetic, allowing her to design in a broad range of styles from classic to modern.
About Tana Mattson
Tana Mattson founded Altstadt Interiors upon her graduation from The Art Institute of Seattle in 1995. Shortly after it's conception, Tana recognized the potential for a consignment furniture shop that provides clients with a space to resell their old items and also lead new clients to unique, sustainable finds.
The Altstadt Interiors Shop opened its doors in October 1996 and functions as a storefront, design studio, and an endless exercise in demonstrating what Tana can do with limited space and a constantly revolving stock of mismatched pieces.
Tana's three beloved companions Oscar, Cora and Preston are an integral part of her life and design business-you can often find one or all of them at the shop or riding along to a design appointment. Her love and experience with animals provides a keen ability to design around pets, family and children.
She is an active member of Historic Seattle, National Trust for Historic Preservation and a Board Member of Northwest Society of Interior Designers.
