Bowman & Company, LLP
Bowman & Company became one of the Stockton area's largest accounting firms by never losing sight of founder Herb Bowman's observation: "There's no right way to do the wrong thing."
Established by Mr. Bowman in 1949, the company has handled accounting, tax and business matters for generations of companies, non-profits, families and individuals. Similarly, we have had four generations of partners at the helm - including, to this (and every) day, Mr. Bowman himself.
Bowman & Company offers a rare depth of services to its clients. In addition to the rigorous professional standards we maintain in our work and hiring, our membership in the Alliott Group, a worldwide alliance of certified public accounting firms, provides us with access to global advisors and accelerated training in rules, regulations and strategies on behalf of our clients.
ACCOUNTING SERVICES
Bowman & Company, LLP's accounting services enable our clients to focus on their core business functions. By assisting their existing accounting personnel or taking over that function for our clients' businesses, we release business owners from the critical but time-consuming tasks that can influence the profitability of a business. Our accounting services include compiling financial statements, payroll and property tax reporting, accounts payable processing, check writing, resolving problems with taxing authorities, and QuickBooksPro and Peachtree accounting software consulting.
Our people are the keys to the success of our practice. Through hard work, we endeavor to build long-term relationships with our clients and become their trusted business and personal advisors.
Herbert H. Bowman, CPA
There would be no Bowman & Company if, in 1947, Herb Bowman hadn't decided to "sit in on" classes that would lead to his becoming a certified public accountant in 1949, the year he founded this firm. "There were only five other CPAs in Stockton at the time," he recalls.
Herb co-founded the firm with his pal Bob Tout, with whom he'd served in the ROTC, attended Harvard Business School and enlisted as officers in the U.S. Army during World War II. When concerns arose at the time that tax work might infringe upon the practice of law, he and Bob worked with Humphrey's College to establish a law school. Herb was in the first graduating class and was recently inducted into Humphrey's Law School Hall of Fame.
