Principal Byron W. Burke is an expert in property tax issues and has developed an outstanding service company based on this expertise and commitment to the needs of clients. Mr. Burke's initial employment after graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in finance/ real estate was as an assistant to the Tulsa County Assessor in 1974, and, since that time he has worked in the property tax arena, starting his own property tax consulting practice in 1976.
Burke & Associates represents a wide range of clients throughout the United States. Our typical client is a multi-location company with property tax exposure in a dozen states that we have represented for twenty years. We are very proud of the fact that our first client, a Tulsa based grocery store chain, that retained our firm in 1976, is still a client of our company today.
Our clients include national grocery chains, restaurants, multi-location retail stores, convenience stores, office buildings, industrial property, assisted living facilities, multi-family properties, transportation terminals, newspapers, radio and television stations.
Our work involves everything from an assessed valuation review on an individual property to providing a full service property tax department function for more than a dozen large multi-state businesses. We now work in every state in the country. However, our primary area of expertise is in the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arizona, California, Iowa, Illinois, Florida and Georgia.
We find tax savings for our clients in areas that many of our competitors don't know to look. Our property valuation review involves the gathering of a lot of information about your property and the assessment against your property. Once we have a thorough file built on each of your properties our next step begins with a visit to every location that is assigned to us to handle. After the inspection and appraisal analysis we meet with the assessment officials to obtain a fair and equitable assessment on your property. If necessary we appear before the Boards of Appeals to appeal the value placed by the Assessor when a satisfactory value has not been settled with the appraiser's office.
If you desire, we will receive the tax statements in our office, audit them for accuracy, approve them for payment, and forward them to you in sufficient time to take advantage of any discounts that may be offered for early payment. We will also approve for payment any type of billing for property taxes from any party other than a collector's office, such as a landlord's annual reconciliation for property taxes on a leased location.
