Designworks Architects

Designworks Architects is a small architectural firm in a nineteenth century townhouse in the Penns Common Historic District in Reading, Pennsylvania. Formed in 1985 by William Vitale, Designworks' design process is a collaborative method of crafting sustainable solutions for spatial needs.

Although Designworks has had an environ-mental perspective from the outset, in 2006, we committed to employing green architectural principles as integral to all of our work. Our services include architectural design, sustainable design, historic restoration, interior design, adaptive reuse, urban planning, feasibility studies and consultations.

How We Work

We view architectural projects as problems in search of solutions. Client and architect work collaboratively on solutions that reflect the personality and tastes of the client and answer the unique requirements of the project, always mindful of the environment.

The working atmosphere is personal and informal. There is a lot of hand-holding that goes on at Designworks, lots of cups of coffee and growing piles of sketch paper, because we don't regard design as merely a business venture.

By the time the design is done, we all will feel as though we've created something important together, because that is what we've done - generated a beautiful design that answers your needs and respects the natural environment.
