Donovan Music School
Marian Donovan offers her students over 30 years of experience as a music educator. She studied violin with John Metzger and piano with Viva Metzger, and received her degree in Music Performance from the University of San Diego in 1971. During her studies, she was recognized numerous times by the Music Teachers of America.
She taught music in a variety of parochial schools and also taught adults at the San Mateo Adult Education Center. As a private instructor, she developed a substantial following of students in Los Altos, California; San Diego, California; and Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Says Donovan about her work, "Music is an important part of a well-rounded education. The discipline promotes good work habits that can be applied to many practices, both in and out of the arts."
Marian Donovan has experience teaching preschoolers (ages 2-6), elementary school students, junior high school students, high school students, and adults. She has presented countless recitals for her proteges over the years, and many have gone on to study music at Julliard, the Berklee School of Music, and the San Francisco Conservatory, as well as to become doctors, lawyers, dentists, mathemeticians, and teachers.
