Need help starting a compost pile? Would you like to set up a worm bin (aka vermicomposting)? Drip irrigation systems and rainwater harvesting are options as well. If you're interested in raising chickens for eggs, and keeping bees for honey we can help with those too. No job is too small for Front to Backyard. Let us put together a program that works best for you and your family, or for your restaurant or commercial business.

Front to Backyard owner-operator, Charles G. Thompson has been a life-long gardener. A fourth-generation Californian, he grew up learning how to garden from his great-grandparents along the Central Coast of California. Much of the food he ate as a child came directly from his great-grandparents' vegetable garden. In addition to maintaining their garden, they also raised chickens, and kept bees. Charles was lucky enough to work side-by-side with them over a span of many years. The farm and garden lessons he learned as a child have stayed with him into adulthood, and he's now a prolific urban farmer and gardener. Through his company, Front to Backyard Urban Farms & Gardens, he hopes to share his experience and knowledge with other would-be farmers and gardeners.

Charles holds a Certificate in Horticulture and Gardening from the University of California, Los Angeles Extension. He is a member of the American Horticultural Society, the California Native Plant Society, California State Beekeepers Association, the Los Angeles County Beekeepers Association, the Seed Library of Los Angeles, and the Southern California Horticultural Society.
