GMK Associates

GMK Associates is a 45-year-old, multi-disciplinary planning, design and construction project management firm focusing on heavy renovation and new construction of healthcare, education, power, government, retirement and hospitality facilities. Working primarily throughout the Carolinas and Georgia, the GMK team is led by seasoned facility planners and designers, as well as construction managers, with individual experience of more than 30 years each and offers trendsetting, proven successes in high-performance facility design and construction.

GMK has been instrumental in the planning, feasibility study, funding consultation, design, construction and project management of the only federally approved HUD-242 design-build projects in the country and is currently designing South Carolina's first, proposed LEED-Silver Certified inpatient facility. The firm also has significant experience working on projects that have been funded through USDA, Build America Bonds and stimulus funding sources.

Established in 1966 as a partnership of three and growing into a corporation of almost 100 professional personnel headquartered in Columbia, with satellite offices in Greenville, S.C., Raleigh, N.C., and Augusta, Ga., GMK is comprised of five distinct divisions - architecture, engineering, construction services, design-build and interior design.

For 45 years, GMK Associates Architecture has been designing for healthcare, higher education, K-12, government markets and more. Founded as an architectural partnership of three, the team is now 17 strong, with 11 licensed architects who meet the unprecedented design challenges of today head-on. We have in-depth experience in new construction, critical phasing and complete regeneration projects, as well as award-winning historical preservation expertise. In conjunction with our engineering disciplines, GMK's architecture team boasts a lifetime portfolio of more than $4 billion in total projects.
