About Little Blossom Montessori School

Founded in 1999, Little Blossom Montessori School is an independent learning environment specifically designed for young children and their individual needs. Our methods and techniques are in strict conformity with the unique education theory propounded by the Montessori Philosophy.

The broad areas of the Little Blossom curriculum include Motor Education, Sensory Education and Academic and Cultural Activities. Our prepared environment is responsive to the needs of the learner. The children educate themselves. They learn in the environment carefully prepared for them. Methods are individualized and personalized to suit the development of children at their own pace.

Our school offers a flexible range of year round programs for children from 2 months through Kindergarten with enrollment accepted throughout the year. We are expertly staffed with AMI, MIA certified teachers, Montessori interns and trained assistants. Together we work to create stimulating learning environments full of materials and activities to interest and challenge the children.

We have two schools in Sacramento, California. Visit us at our Natomas or South Land Park locations.

The Montessori Method

"From the moment the child enters the classroom, each step in his education is seen as a progressive building block, ultimately forming the whole person, in the emergence from childhood to adult. All focus is on the needs of the child." -Maria Montessori

The Montessori method is a child-centered, alternative educational method based on the child development theories originated by Italian educator Maria Montessori (1870-1952) in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The distinguishing feature of the Montessori method is that children direct their own learning, choosing among the sections of a well-structured and stocked classroom. The teacher's role is to introduce children to materials, and then remain a "silent presence" in the classroom. Montessori schools pride themselves on seeing and meeting the student's personality and intellectual needs, rather than viewing them as part of a classroom process. The students are encouraged to teach and to help each other.*
