McKinley Early Childhood Center
Our goal is to provide an educational, fun, challenging curriculum in a secure, welcoming environment for your child with the positive purpose of supplementing family life. We hope to involve you in Center activities and to provide you with helpful information about your child's development. We endeavor to work with you to meet the needs of your children.
Infants
Our teachers specialize in providing a warm, nurturing environment for all infants. We strive to provide your infant with a schedule that will help transition them into toddlerhood. All of the essentials (wipes, formula, baby food, love) are provided. Tummy time, arts and crafts, singing, and reading promote motor skills and language development.
Even the youngest of our children get to enjoy sights outside of their classroom! Our center is equipped with a Bye Bye Buggie, which is an extended stroller that allows up to six young children to ride at a time. Our teachers make it their priority to take the children on daily trips around the center.
Toddlers
The toddler classroom is potty training central! With your help, our teachers take the time to make sure the children are mastering the art of pottying on their own. Themed lesson plans help incorporate art, science, music, math, and language development in the classroom. Basic concepts involving shapes, colors, numbers, and letters are introduced at this level. It is our goal to send our toddlers to preschool with a foundation for learning.
Preschool
Our preschool is designed to get your child ready for school! Our curriculum uses creative themes, hands-on activities, and music to teach young children while our structured environment promotes writing, language development, math skills, and science concepts. Preschool children will also gain confidence in areas such as colors, shapes, numbers, and letter recognition. Art, dramatic play, and discussions are utilized to encourage children to work and think creatively. We strive to develop the children's imaginations, reasoning skills, and self-confidence by emphasizing creative problem solving. The emphasis is on the learning process, not on whether something is done right or on time. It is our goal to use these concepts as a foundation to prepare your children for kindergarten.
School-Age Program
We offer a before- and after-school program that is a fun and exciting experience for the children, but still makes homework a priority. Your child will have the opportunity to take part in playing the Nintendo Wii, join in a basketball game, or even relax on the couch. We currently provide FREE transportation to and from Helen Arnold CLC, Smith Elementary, and Imagine School.
Summer Program
Our school age summer program is guaranteed to offer your child a fun-filled and exciting summer. The children get to enjoy three field tips per week, all FREE! CiCi's Pizza, The Great Lakes Science Center, Roller Skating, and the Cleveland Zoo are just a few of the places the children get to enjoy. On top of this, your child will get to participate in activities around the center. Pizza parties, water day, and video game tournaments are held frequently for your child to enjoy!
Outdoor Play
We have a place for everyone on our outdoor playground area. Equipped with a jungle gym, basketball hoop, kick ball, and four square, all age groups can enjoy the outdoors!
