Because many mental health symptoms are presented on a spectrum and Autism is a "Spectrum" Disorder, research has reported that some individuals may have challenges with social skills, self awareness and identifying others moods. Learning these skills has also been reported in research to be more approachable through "play".

Moodments puzzles are an invitation to play by using a game to make puzzles that depict 12 different moods. The puzzles can help individuals identify some of the aforementioned potential challenges.

Moodment games provide opportunities for children and adolescents to express and name their emotions. Play opens up discussion around emotions and identifying facial affect. The game includes interactive ideas including using the expressive arts, drawing, role play and movement for facilitators to start and develop conversations about emotions. Moodments Puzzles help children acquire the capacity to understand emotional expressions in order to develop meaningful relationships with others.
