Our History
In 1936, a Greek entrepreneur began dairy delivery service for his friends in Portland's food industry. This man, John Karamanos, wanted to deliver the best products possible with the highest level of service. At that time, there were more than 75 independent dairy processors in Portland, Oregon.
Our business has grown, and we've honed our skills through our commitment to food service operations. We have become a trusted name in naturally produced dairy products. Sunshine Dairy is continually evolving to meet the needs of our customer base, providing naturally produced dairy and related products to the growing number of chefs and café owners who are concerned about the quality and source of the ingredients.
Our loyal customer base ranges from small restaurants and coffee shops to major grocery chains and health care facilities from the Columbia Gorge to the Oregon Coast, and Seattle to Eugene. We provide direct delivery service that guarantees expertise in the product line, and a commitment to naturally produced, healthy dairy products.
Sunshine Dairy Foods has been a Quality Chekd Dairy member since 1981. This membership provides training and support for our employees, and requires that our dairy products meet quality standards higher than the federal requirements. We operate two production facilities in Portland, Oregon and a distribution center in east Multnomah County. We produce a range of dairy products from bottled milk to yogurt, ice cream, and other cultured dairy products.
We are proud of our history as the Pacific Northwest's trusted dairy, and we look forward to serving our customers for many years!
