The House of Breton (formerly Curvy Custom Bride) was started by Lei Breton in 2014 as a home for the queer and plus-size communities in the wedding industry. The House of Breton is a safe space for anyone looking for custom wedding day attire, however, we specifically cater to the LGBTQ+ community. As an inclusive fashion designer and a queer-owned company, we provide inclusively crafted custom wedding dresses, suits, & separates for Trans, Non-Binary, Queer & Allied Folx, across the US. We aim to design whatever makes you feel like yourself, and we'll do it without judgement, body shaming, or assigning gender roles.
You'd think I would have embraced fashion at an early age, coming from a family of Colombian seamstresses and tailors. But instead of learning sewing from my parents, I taught myself in 2007 after getting an acting degree and trying to make my own costumes. I started The House of Bretón (formerly Curvy Custom Bride) in 2014 as a home for the queer and plus-size communities in the wedding industry.
I'm Lei Bretón and I'm calling "bullshit" on the bridal industry. They'll tell you that your wedding day will be gorgeous and the best day of your life... except if you're queer, plus-size, live in the Midwest, and make less than six figures. These are lies, my friend, and I'm using my business to spread the good word.
We believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe that Black lives matter. We believe that gender and sexuality are fluid. We believe that all bodies are beautiful. We believe disabilities are worth celebrating. We believe in marriage equality. We believe in preserving and protecting Mother Earth. And most of all, we believe in good design.
I named this business The House of Bretón in the tradition
of all great fashion houses, but also for you.
This is our house. And in our house, you'll always be accepted.
While so many wedding brands turn away queer, curvy, trans, non-binary, BIPOC, neurodivergent, and other people, we say, "welcome home."
