San Leandro is a suburban city in the Bay Area. Part of Alameda County, it's located south of Oakland and north of Ashland. A coastal city, it sits on San Francisco Bay.
Population is around 90,000, with a racially diverse population. Geographically, the relatively flat neighborhoods are bordered by the San Leandro Hills in the north. The climate is typical for the San Francisco Bay Area, with mild but cool temperatures year round. Average high temperature ranges from 60 to 77 degrees, with about 19" of rainfall annually.
San Leandro was originally famous for its cherries. Hence, every June an annual Cherry Festival is held, a highlight for both residents and visitors.

In 1868, the quake on the Hayward Fault devastated several buildings and caused collateral damage, including to the county seat government building. The Hayward Fault is still visible as it passes under Foothill Boulevard, with occasional damage to the asphalt there.
Food processing businesses as well as several well known manufacturers operate here, including Ghirardelli, North Face, Coca Cola, OSISoft and JanSport. A large marina and Lake Chabot regional park are prominent public features in the area.
